Frequently Asked Questions
Who Are the Speech Writers?
There are three superb speech writers on our staff. Steve Schafer is the founder of TheSpeechWriters.net. Steve has extensive speaking experience, having written and delivered hundreds of speeches. Abi Galeas is a writer who writes with passion and warmth in every speech writing assignment. Miriam Hill asks probing questions to get to the heart of what you want to say. She writes with your audience in mind and quickly captures what you want to say.
Should I check out other Speech Writers online?
Yes! There are many speech writers out there. Prices vary widely. Quality and turn around time differs from one to the other. Choosing one is a challenge - especially since you've found one of the best already. Look around. Email several. Get a feel for who they are and what they can do. Then come back to TheSpeechWriters.net
How much does it cost to have a speech written?
Hiring a professional writer is usually expensive - but worth every penny. Our fee is $278 for a 5-7 minute speech. This if FAR less than many speech writers you will find online (one we know of charges $500 just for the initial consultation). If you need a longer speech, the fee will, of course, be more. Generally the fee will be an additional $50 per minute (about 130 words). Call or email Steve if you need a longer speech.
How long does it take to get a completed speech?
Because we have a writing staff, we are usually able to get your speech to you quite quickly. Our standard turn around time is three to four days, but if you need it tomorrow, we'll have it finished by tomorrow.
Do you use a template for speeches and just fill in my information?
Using a template is anathema to speech writers. All of our speeches are unique and tailored to your needs, to your audience, and to your 'voice.'
We never use templates nor do we 'recycle' speeches we've written for others.
How do you get the information needed to write my speech?
We work from a questionnaire. You answer some insightful questions about what content you want in the speech, the 'tone' you desire, the audience, etc. If we need additional information we'll email or text you or, perhaps, chat on the phone.
I've already written my speech. Can you tweak it and make it better?
Of course. But do be aware that we've found that editing and revising and tweaking a speech already written is actually more time consuming than writing one from scratch, so our regular writing fee applies.
Do you allow revisions if there are things I want different or changed?
We offer unlimited revisions and tweaks for the first two days following completion of your speech. Speech writing requires focus and after a couple of days, our focus needs to be on our next client's speech.
Do you give refunds?
Sorry. We don't. But we will work with you until your speech is exactly what you want.
What if I don't like what you've written?
That is rare, but certainly possible. Our creative process may not mesh with your style or thinking. We will work with you until it IS something you like. You hired us for our expertise and so that you could present a great speech. That's what you'll get every time. Trust us to make you come across as a speech making pro.
How do I memorize my speech?
DON'T. There is absolutely no reason for you to memorize your speech unless you're giving a TED talk or are a politician (even they use teleprompters). No one expects a speech to just flow out of your mouth as though it's extemporaneous. People expect a great speech. Reading it or having thorough notes is expected and often appreciated (no rambling tangents in a written speech).
How do I pay?
You can pay using Paypal or by clicking the payment button and use any major credit card. If you so request, we can accept payment via Zelle. We will accept checks if you don't need your speech until the check is received and clears.
